The master's degree is designed to provide additional education or training in the student's specialized branch of knowledge, well beyond the level of baccalaureate study. Master's degrees are offered in many different fields, and there are two main types of programs: academic and professional.

Academic Master's: The Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees are usually awarded in the traditional arts, sciences, and humanities disciplines. The M.S. is also awarded in technical fields such as engineering and agriculture. Original research, research methodology, and field investigation are emphasized. These programs usually require the completion of between 30 and 60 credit hours and could reasonably be completed in one or two academic years of full-time study. They may lead directly to the doctoral level.

The US universities are home to some of world’s best business schools of the world. For over many decades, a US MBA qualification is regarded as the best bet by thousands of aspiring management executives around the globe. Students should shortlist of colleges that match your needs, interests, and abilities. You should also feel confident that you have the minimum entrance requirements for studying in the United States, and that you can meet the costs of a U.S. undergraduate education. Now it's time to start putting together your applications.

Because of the work, and the costs, involved in putting together a good application, most students limit their applications to between four and seven colleges. However, you can request information from as many universities as you like.

If you have access to the Internet, you will find that many U.S. universities also put their college catalogs onto their Web sites, and some have even stopped printing paper copies. Many also have on-line application forms that can be completed on the computer and sent back to the university electronically, or the forms can be downloaded and printed. If there is an on-line application, you should use it. This is the quickest method for submitting your application.

  1. For Undergraduate programmes: 10 + 2
  2. For Graduate programmes: 16 years of education required (10 + 2 + 4)
  3. Some institutions accept 15 years of formal education into their Bridge / Masters Programs
  4. Good & Strong academic background
  5. Good scores in entrance exams like SAT, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, IELTS etc
  6. Strong recommendation letters
  7. Concise & informative statement of purpose / personal statement, essays & resumes
  8. Certificates of achievement & extra - curricular activity participation
  9. Strong financial background or good grades to get a scholarship

Kinds of undergraduate degrees offered in the US
Bachelors and Associate Degrees

The bachelor's degree typically takes four years to complete, though some students take slightly less time to finish, and others may take longer. The associate degree usually takes two years to complete. Associate degree programs may be "terminal" programs, which lead into specific careers upon graduation, or "transfer" programs, which correspond to the first two years of a bachelor's degree and tend to be more liberal arts based.

Under the latter option one could then transfer into the third year of a four-year bachelor's degree program.Associate degree programs are offered at two-year colleges known as junior or community colleges. Many colleges and universities offer bachelor's degree programs, with a small number also offeringassociate degree programs.

Since last few years Indian science community is finding itself amid debates on brain drain. Often it’s said, the present economic scenario is also pulling the best brains of India toward management. Seeing the present scenario Dr CNR Rao stated that “Indian Science will be finished in the next five years “. However it’s the same Indian brains those have created milestones at foreign universities and the breakthroughs achieved by them has different story to tell.

Research is the out come of the queries of an enquiring mind. An enquiring mind is unstoppable on its path to find out the answers of the question it generates. A research in the field of Science or Humanities or technology has always been well supported and encouraged by both India and other popular destinations like US or UK. Particularly because of the infrastructure and scholarships available, dozens of foreign universities of US, UK and Germany have now become the honey pots for Indian Students.

The doctoral degree is designed to train research scholars and, in many cases, future college and university faculty members. At the doctoral level, the Ph.D (doctor of philosophy) is the most common degree awarded in academic disciplines. Other doctoral degrees are awarded primarily in professional fields, such as education (BEd.D. or doctor of education) and business administration (D.B.A. or doctor of business administration). Doctoral programs involve advanced coursework, seminars, and the writing of a dissertation that describes the student's own original research, completed under the supervision of a faculty adviser.
ComeSeptember, and thousands of Indian students throng to foreign varsities for pursinga PG qualification

A postgraduate course gives students the ultimate opportunity to pursue their own specialist interests. Courses last from one year to two years in duration.

The master's degree is designed to provide additional education or training in the student's specialized branch of knowledge, well beyond the level of baccalaureate study. Master's degrees are offered in many different fields.

Taught master's courses generally last for one to two years and consist of two elements: you'll complete a number of modules (which will include attending lectures and seminars, writing essays and taking examinations) and produce a dissertation from original research. You can search for taught master's courses here

While a master's degree by research, students won’t typically attend lectures - instead they devote the entire year to research. Their final marks are determined by the quality of your dissertation.

It would be unfair, if we talk about postgraduate study options and don’t talk about MBA qualification. An MBA is a specialist business taught master's course that will give you a real step up the managerial ladder. It's the best-known and most popular postgraduate qualification.

Down the years, though foreign institutions are known to equip students with first-rate education right from kindergarten schooling to advanced studies and research studies, a majority of Indian students opt for higher studies only at post graduate level.  Today Indian institutes are regarded highly for quality education. Gone are the days, when Indian students had no option but to fly to foreign shores in search of quality education. Today thousands of globally-acknowledged programs are being offered on Indian soils.

Unlike post graduate qualification which finds many takers globally, not many Indian students go for undergraduate qualifications abroad. This is the reason, why only those students who want to gain specialized expertise in any chosen field opt to foreign shores.

The diploma has different meanings in different education systems. Astudent going abroad for study must be clear about what exactly diploma means in his/her target country. Generally speaking, A diploma qualification is regarded at a lower rank as compared to a graduate qualification, though, in some cases, an Advanced Diploma qualification falls in between the two. Moreover in India Diploma is awarded in various proffesional and vocational courses and is regarded as lower than the Bachelor degree in the same decipline but is treated as equivalent to a general degree.

In US, Diploma refers to the actual documentation which is received by the student after higher education. But in Germany, Ukraine, etc diploma is often comparable to Masters and Bachelor’s degree. Diploma is regarded an addition to certify qualifications of the candidate. Likewise in UK, Higher natinal Diploma (HND) is regarded vey highly in terms of better job prospects and excellent career growth. Similarly Higher national certificate (HNC) at many European study destinations is regarded an excellent career choice.
